Fund for the production of audiovisual works in Sicily

Description

The Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment of Regione Siciliana in collaboration with Sicilia Film Commission will allocated non-repayable grants for the production of feature-length films for theatrical release or TV distribution, TV series, short films and documentaries shot in the region, in order to fulfil the following goals:

  • promote and support original, high quality audio-visual titles;
  • promote the image and profile of Sicily through awareness raising, by supporting audio-visual works from the territory that enhance its identity, history, culture, landscape, traditions, food and wine;
  • promote and support of professionals in the audio-visual industry working in the region;
  • support audio-visual works made in Sicily that are capable of creating investment for the regional audio-visual production industry and providing inward commercial and employment investment for the territory, even when not directly representing the identity traits of the island;
  • support audio-visual works with high production and distribution potential able to provide positive inward effects and impact on the territory.

The overall budget for 2023-2024 is €6,634,800, allocated as follows:

  • €6,000,000 for fictional narratives: films for TV/theatrical release, TV series, animated TV series;
  • €600,000 for non-fiction narratives: documentaries, TV documentary series, animated TV documentary series;
  • €34,800 for short films.

  • non-fiction narratives: documentaries, TV documentary series, animated TV documentary series: 30%
  • short films: 30%

Type of contribution

  • Non-repayable grants

Requirements

  • Production start date must be given
  • Minimum spend in the territory:

    150% of the requested grant

  • Companies must be registered in the Registro Cinematografico delle Imprese (Film Companies Register) at the Chamber of Commerce responsible for the area; associations must be registered in the R.E.A. (Economic Administrative Registry).

Payment schedule

The grant will be disbursed at the beneficiary’s request, subject to the completion of all grantee’s obligations, as follows:

  1. first payment, as advance (up to 25%): upon the beneficiary’s request and subject to the submission, at the same time, of a contract of guarantee equal to the amount requested;
  2. second payment (up to 90% of the grant): to be requested within 6 months from completion of the project, together with submission of the final accounting of the expenses of the entire production and a sample copy of the financed audiovisual work;
  3. final payment (up to 10% of the grant).

Notes

The product must be completed no later than 18 months from the date of official publication of the list of grantees.
It is possible to request an extension, maximum 6 months, at least 30 days before the original deadline.
