Where it was filmed 'The return of don Camillo'

The film was shot at Cinecittà studios, whilst Rocca di Cambio (AQ) was used as the small mountain town, which goes by the name of Montenara in the series, where Don Camillo is sent to get him away from Brescello (RE). The church in which Don Camillo carries out his religious duties is the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, also located in Rocca di Cambio. Montenara station, meanwhile, is actually Sassa Scalo station (AQ), which lies on the Terni-Sulmona line.
When Don Camillo returns home after his stay in Montenara, he gets off at Brescello station (RE). Last but not least, the college where Beppo, the son of Peppone, studies, is in Fiano Romano: recognisable sites include Piazzale Cairoli and the Ducal Orsini Castle, which was built in Medieval times and has been reconstructed several times over the centuries. The entrance gate is nonetheless located in Rome, more specifically at Capizucchi Palazzo in Piazza di Campitelli.
