Where it was filmed 'The Invisible Boy'

The entire film is set and was filmed in Trieste, a city that evoked just the right atmosphere with its sea and architecture for the debut fantasy film of Oscar-winning director Gabriele Salvatores. The city, which won the director over with its Old Port and enormous Ursus crane, is indeed a giant open-air film set, on a par with the best of film studios. For example, Salvatores chose to use Warehouse 26 in the Old Port, which has today been refurbished and turned into a location for events, and is used in the film as the Russian military base where Michele’s biological parents are subjected to genetic mutation. Other locations used include the PalaChiarbola in Piazzale delle Puglie, the Audace pier and the Bersaglieri pier, which runs in parallel. The film also features the University of Trieste, located in Piazzale Europa, which is used as the middle school attended by the boy, as well as several roads in the city, which Michele is seen riding up and down on his bicycle.
