The Metastasio Theatre is located in Prato. It owes its construction to the enterprising spirit of Pratese notary Benedetto Cecconi who, in 1820, spearheaded an initiative to build a new theatre in Prato to replace the old Teatro dei Semplici. The theatre seats 686 people: 226 in the stalls, 362 in the boxes and 98 in the gallery.
