The Stairs in Via Ugo Bassi is a steep street of steps that links the two Roman neighbourhoods of Monteverde Vecchio and Porta Portese, terminating in Viale Trastevere. The top of the staircase offers a view over Rome, which even includes the gazometro in the Ostiense area. In 2015, the staircase was revitalized by the street artist David “Diavù” Vecchiato who used quartz paint to depict Elena Sofia Ricci in a scene from In nome del popolo sovrano (Luigi Magri, 1990). The work is the third instalment in the “Ossigeno 2015 – Popstairs” project financed by Estate Romana, which also includes depictions of Ingrid Bergman in via Fiamignano and Michèle Mercier in Corso Francia.
