Accessible only via the trail leading to it or from the sea, Vedova Beach is the last real city beach in Ancona. It is located directly to the south of Vena Beach and is morphologically very similar, though wilder if that is possible. It is home to the last handful of caves carved out of the rock that characterise the southern coast of Ancona (the Grotta Azzurra, Passetto Caves, Spiaggiola, Scogli Lunghi, Scalaccia and Vena Beach). Now however it is Mount Conero that dominates the background. A little further along Vedova Beach is Portonovo Bay, featuring the famous Trave rocks plunging down into the sea.
