Albiano (Trento) is one of the main centres in Europe for the extraction, processing and marketing of porphyry today.
The porphyry deposits were discovered when construction of the Gardolo-Lases provincial road began in 1911; quarrying gradually increased in intensity. Numerous quarries have since been opened on mount Gaggio and mount Gorsa, where slabs, cubes, cordons and other urban structures are made.
