The Ministry of Culture has renewed the Film Distribution Fund for 2023. The Fund, active since 2018, is focused on supporting the sales of Italian films to international distributors with a grant to buy the exploitation rights for the country where they operate.
The budget of the Fund has increased considerably, from €1.2 to €2.1 million for 2023 to be disbursed in three valuation sessions (€700k each session) with the following deadlines:
Theatrical distribution has a total budget of €1.65 M(€550k per session) and each title may aspire to an increased maximum contribution for each distribution country, €50k (an increase on €30k in 2022).
Furthermore, this year the Fund will also include exploitation rights for digital platforms with a €450k budget (€150k each session) with maximum contributions of up to €15k.
