Description

Set up in November 1997, the Ibero-American Ibermedia support fund aims to promote the activities of the audiovisual sector in its participating states. The programme involves 23 member countries and observers of CACI, which fund it: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela, plus Italy.

The intergovernmental committee that manages the Fund, taking the funding at its disposal into consideration, supports the following activities:

  • the co-production of Ibero-American films;
  • the development of Ibero-American film and tv series projects;
  • the organisation of training workshops for Ibero-American audiovisual industry professionals.

Requirements

  • The projects submitted must be co-productions between at least two independent producers belonging to different participating states of the Fund
  • Bilateral co-productions must be made by ITALY and a Latin American country which participates in the IBERMEDIA programme.
  • Multilateral productions must be made with at least two countries that participate in the IBERMEDIA Programme, and one of these must be a Latin American country.
  • Co-productions must be made with the technical and artistic participation of at least one Latin American country. This participation must be proportional to the economic, direct, or equivalent contribution of the national producer from that country.

For the Training funding area:

  • Training programs must be accessible to professionals from all the Ibero-American countries plus Italy
  • Applicants must guarantee that the majority of IBERMEDIA grantees participating in training activities come from countries other than where the program is taking place.
