'Cacciatore – The Hunter'

The story of young prosecutor Saverio Barone to join the antimafia pool (group of investigating magistrates) and his descent into the hellish darkness of the Sicilian mafia is based on the autobiographical novel Il cacciatore di Mafiosi by magistrate Alfonso Sabella.

Set in Sicily in the early 1990s, the principal story lines feature the prosecutor’s investigative process and the private lives of the mafia bosses he is hunting. The backdrop for the series is Palermo, an open-air set for the occasion: in the city, locations included Palazzo di Giustizia and the adjoining Piazza Orlando Vittorio Emanuele, the building of the Municipality, via Maqueda (at the height of Quattro Canti) and Via Principe di Villafranca. In the province of Palermo, shooting took place at the historical residence, Villa Chiaramonte Bordonaro ai Colli, in the nature reserve of Lago di Piana degli Albanesi, an ancient reservoir, and in the municipality of Isola delle Femmine.

Other locations featured include San Vito lo Capo, Castelvetrano and Marsala (TP). Various interiors were instead shot in Rome.
