Part of the National Park of the Monti Sibillini, Castelluccio di Norcia is located in the heart of the Valnerina area, elevated at the centre of a vast plain on the border between the regions of Marche and Umbria. From here, the view stretches out over three plains (Pian Grande, Pian Piccolo and Pian Perduto), which combine to form a plateau of 15 km².
Pian Grande di Castelluccio is a valley which offers a unique panorama in every season, reaching the height of its beauty during the so-called Fioritura, from May to early July, when various types of flower bloom in colours ranging from yellow ochre to purple and red. This is due partially to the cultivation of the famous Castelluccio lentil whose blossoms fill the plain, adding yellow to the colours of the cornflowers, poppies, ranunculi and wild flowers that grow here.
