In the northern part of the village of S'Archittu, on the Cuglieri coast – an important town in Montiferru in the upper Oristano region – is a white cliff surrounding a delightful little beach, where an arch opens up, a natural monument 9m high (originally a grotto) named s'Archittu, created by the erosive action of atmospheric agents on the sedimentary limestone rocks, termed as “lunar” thanks to the reflections generated.
The panorama ranges from the intense blue of the sea to the green of the Mediterranean scrub. The scenic effect is even more beautiful at night, when lights illuminate the whole area. S’Archittu is surrounded by three islets shaped like a mushroom, also smoothed by the patient waves.
Nearby is archaeological site of Cornus, an ancient city state dating back to the 6th century BC.
