The Scogliera nera (black rock) of Cirella is one of the most striking cliffs on the Tyrrhenian coastline in the province of Cosenza. It extends for hundreds of metres, both north and south, from punta di Cirella where the harbour of ancient Cirellae was located and which offers a view over the gulf of Policastro, the island of Cirella and the town of Diamante.
Particularly jagged in appearance, the cliff is mostly limestone rock and is traversed, almost entirely, by a paved path built on the surrounding flat land which blends into the coastal environment, the green land contrasting with blue sea. Agave, maritime pine, prickly pear, juniper, caper and silvery crocus can be found along the path.
