The “Be Factory” production spaces in Progetto Manifattura, Rovereto, were designed by Kengo Kuma, icon of sustainable architecture. The new buildings, energy efficient and low in landscape and environmental impact, are intended to host innovative companies active in the sectors of environmental protection, biotechnology, sustainable mobility, sports and smart construction.
Its 18,000 m2 pedestrian walkway will be the largest green roof in Italy.
The historic clock building opens onto the parade ground of the old factory. Facing it on the other side is a staircase; an easy access ramp leads to the cycle path to the Leno stream.
The underground production area comprises 25,000 m2 of wood and glass production modules. The new buildings, low in environmental impact and Leed and Arca certified, have a classic industrial and manufacturing layout combined with a high level of aesthetics to accommodate innovative productions, with white rooms and laboratories for telemedicine, robotics and the study of materials.
