The coastal road from Trapani to Marsala runs alongside the saltpans, which follow one another as far as the Stagnone Lagoon of Motya. The water of the lagoon and the salt collected from June to September and piled up and covered with tiles afford a unique spectacle, made even more charming by the light at sunset. The landscape is dotted with windmills, among which there is one from the 16th century that has been completely restored.
