The mountain environment around Frosolone (IS) offers views of unequalled natural beauty in every season.

This is the setting for the beech forest of Monte Marchetta and Colle dell'Orso, a rare example of a beech forest developing at over 1,000m altitude. The “Pedalone” beech tree, a true botanical colossus, more than a century old and over 40m tall, is its majestic representative.

It is also the setting for the Bosco della Grisciata whose undergrowth, dotted with cyclamens and snowdrops, extends to the open plains of Valle della Contessa, covered with gooseberry shrubs and dog rose bushes.
