Season 3 of the fantasy series The Witcher (produced by Netflix) continues the adventures of Geralt di Rivia (Henry Cavill) in locations that include Italy, United Kingdom, Wales, Croatia, Slovenia and Morocco.
Over the eight episodes, Geralt is forced to protect his family, recently reunited after many trials: young princess Ciri (Freya Allan), whose powers make her a target to many, and his beloved Yennefer (Anya Chalotra).
Charged by Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer takes her and Geralt to the fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to find out more about the girl’s untapped powers. Instead, they discover that they have come to a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and betrayal. Forced to react, they must play every card they have or risk losing each other forever.
Several magical scenes were shot in the snowy landscapes of Friuli Venezia Giulia. As they wander from shelter to shelter in search of a place that is never as safe as they’d like, the three main characters stop near the Fusine lakes in Tarvisio, where the director Stephen Surjik shot for two days, including scenes with horses. In a winter setting, the landscape blanketed white with snow and the pale sky reflected in the icy lake, Yennefer continues to train with Ciri protected by the watchful, alert Geralt. As time passes, the ice melts, along with the characters' tension.
