In The Marvels, sequel to Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has recovered her identity from the tyrannical Krees and has taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unforeseen consequences mean that Carol must shoulder the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties lead her into an anomalous wormhole connected to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entwined with those of her Jersey City superfan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and her niece, captain Monica Rambeau, now a S.A.B.E.R. astronaut. The unlikely trio must team up and learn to work together to save the universe as “The Marvels.”

Directed by Nia DaCosta, locations include Tropea, in Calabria, where the production filmed several scenes in August 2021, bringing the "pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea" into the imaginary Marvel universe.
