Amici per caso by Max Nardari is the story of two men with nothing in common: Pietro (Filippo Contri), a rough, die-hard Roma fan has been thrown out by his girlfriend Lolly (Beatrice Bruschi), fed up of playing second fiddle to football and his friends; while serious and refined Omero (Filippo Tirabassi) has been dumped by his partner Andy (Rocco Fasano) after refusing his dramatic marriage proposal. They unexpectedly end up living together.
All is going well until Omero realizes he is living with a homophobe full of prejudices which is when he tells Pietro that he is gay. Pietro panics, questioning his friendship with Omero. But when he finds his ex-girlfriend Lolly in another man’s arms, unexpectedly Omero offers him help to win her back. Maybe having a gay friend has benefits that Pietro had never considered…
The film was shot entirely in Terni. Piazza Tacito, with its monumental zodiac fountain, is the setting for the flash mob with which Andy asks Omero to marry him. Other locations include: Villa Ronchini (for the wedding), Villa Centurini and the CAOS – Centro Arti Opificio Siri museum, where Omero works.
