Linked to the mainland by a thin strip of land, Grado (GO) is an elegant seashore town with a Venetian-looking historical centre that unfolds amidst little alleyways lined with picturesque fishermen’s cottages. In the old town’s Campo dei Patriarchi, the Basilica di Santa Eufemia and Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie, Grado’s oldest church, stand side by side.
With 3 km of south-facing beaches, Grado is never in the shade and always enjoys the sunshine, earning the nickname island of the sun.
The lagoon, Grado’s picturesque natural setting, extends from Fossalon di Grado to the island of Anfora, on the same latitude as the mouths of the Ausa and Corno rivers. It offers a landscape with a wealth of colours, set between the green of the luxuriant vegetation and the blue of the Adriatic Sea.
In addition, two nature reserves protect the natural paradises of Valle Cavanata and La foce dell’Isonzo - Isola della Cona.
