The modern Mont Blanc skyway in Courmayeur is a clever engineering solution created to reach the heart of Mont Blanc. The system, which has three stopping points, was inaugurated in 2015 after four years of work, and takes only minutes to reach Punta Helbronner (3,466 m).
The starting point is Courmayeur (1,300 m) where there are ticket offices, parking areas and a caffe. The intermediate station is Pavillon du Mont Fréty (2,200m), which comprises a wine cellar, two restaurants, a 150-seat conference hall and a shopping area.
The highest point, Punta Helbronner, has a 360° panoramic terrace, a bistro and a permanent exhibition of crystals. It is possible to reach the refuge Torino from the station by taking the lift inside the mountain and then setting off on off-piste and Alpine excursions.
