The 1.5km long test circuit, built in 1919, was designed to support the simultaneous testing of 50 cars when the Lingotto was part of the Fiat production process. Cars must drive up the spiral ramp on the northern side of the building built in 1926 to reach the circuit on the roof. A helicopter landing pad and a large meeting room in a glass construction were built above the circuit.
Today accessible to all residents of Turin, the Lingotto is often used for exhibitions and vintage car displays and is also the location of numerous shops, offices, bars, restaurants, a cinema and the Agnelli Museum.
