The factory of Papigno, established in 1901, was the most important plant of the Società Italiana del Carburo di Calcio Acetilene e Altri Gas (Italian Company for Carburation of Calcium Acetilene and Other Gasses), functioning until the mid 1980’s when it was managed by Terni Siderugica. The factory covers over 105,450 sqm (including 34,500 sqm of indoor areas) near the Marmore Waterfalls. It was an independent functional space in an outstanding natural landscape albeit one transformed by the advent of industry. Recent requalification work on part of the area has created a film production centre which respects the pre-existing architecture and atmosphere and offers a wide range of production services. Large hangers and open spaces with vintage machinery and equipment are available.
