Situated between Foligno and Spoleto, Trevi rises on the slopes of Monte Serano, perched on a hill full of olive groves. Churches, towers and palaces outline the profile of this town, which from its 412m of height offers a wide belvedere on the via Flaminia.
Trevi has remains both Roman, such as the mighty city walls (first century B.C.E.), and medieval like Porta del Bruscito, Porta del Cieco, Porta San Fabiano and the Arch of Mostaccio. The walls enclosing the historic center directly overlook the olive groves: the 800m long walkway is a flat tree-lined avenue, with a panoramic view of the valley below. The most interesting religious buildings include the Church of Sant'Emiliano, with the Altar of the Sacrament and 16th-century frescoes attributed to local artists. The 13th-century museum complex of St. Francis houses the art collection of St. Francis. The museum, which also includes the Church of St. Francis, is divided into two distinct sections, historical-artistic (pinacoteca) and archaeological. Interesting richly decorated palaces include the Pontifical Ethiopian College, Casa Petrucci, Palazzo Valenti, Palazzo della Prepositura Valenti, and the Reinassance Palazzo Lucarini.
