The ruins of the Castle of Guardea Vecchia rises on a hill, just behind the village of Guardea (TR), in one of the most scenic spots in the Amerino area. The complex covers an area of about 8000 square meters, the outline of its perimeter wall is perfectly preserved while about 1/3 of the vertical walls remain. The defensive wall has many holes, but much of the system of eight towers (six square and two semi-circular) can still be seen, in addition to the large central tower. It’s undoubtedly a place of charm and nostalgia, fascinating visitors with the by magical, almost unreal atmosphere that emanates from every wall, evoking the noises and sounds of ancient battles and feasts, the smoke and odors of everyday life in the past.
