The Church of St. Peter in Consavia, also known as the complex of the Baptistery of St. Peter, is a Catholic church in corso Vittorio Alfieri, Asti, made up of three buildings, dating between 12-14th centuries, on the eastern end of the via Maestra in Borgo San Pietro. For many centuries the seat of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Lombardy, the complex also hosted the Paleontological Museum of Asti which is now in Palazzo del Michelerio.
The baptistery complex is composed of a 15th century square church, the adjacent Rotonda del Santo Sepolcro with a tower dating to the mid 12th century, adjacent cloister and the Prior’s House. The Rotonda del Santo Sepolcro is a brick and sandstone construction, with a circular perimeter inside and eight columns linked by round arches with 12thcentury sandstone friezes. In contrast, externally the Rotonda has a polygonal shape with a central cupola.
