The Grotta Gigante (Giant Cave), in the municipality of Sgonico (Trieste), was included in the 1995 Guinness World Records as the largest single-hall visitor cave in the world. The site brings together tourism, environmentalism and scientific research.
The Grande Caverna (Great Cave), an imposing room of 365,000 cubic meters, almost 100m high, is reached by descending into the depths of the Earth and following the path of an ancient underground river, accompanied by an expert guide.
Surrounded by evocative stalactites and imposing stalagmites, it is an environment where reality surpasses imagination. The ascent to the surface offers a breath-taking view.
