Italy on Screen Today: from 23 to 29 December with Italy for Movies

The best of Italian cinema will keep Americans company during the holidays. Running from 23rd to 29th December, the fifth edition of Italy on Screen Today – New York film&tv series fest has many new elements: for the first time it will be streamed on the MyMovies platform everywhere in the United States; the “virtual” screening rooms will host 5 encounters with VIP guests, 2 themed panels, 20 films, 3 TV Movies and, for the first time, 5 TV series.

The guests include: directors Gabriele Muccino, Luca Guadagnino, Cristina Comencini, Saverio Costanzo and Carlo Carlei; actors Rosario Dawson and Chloë Sevigny; producer Allan Arkush; and casting directors Lilia Hartmann Trapani, who has worked with Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, Manuel de Oliveira, and Margery Simkin, who worked on Avatar, Erin Brockovich and Top Gun.

The many film titles include: Pinocchio by Matteo Garrone, Padrenostro with Pierfrancesco Favino (winner of the Coppa Volpi at the Venice Film Festival), Volevo nascondermi – Hidden Away (winner at the European Film Award for costumes and cinematography) with Elio Germano (Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival), Everything’s gonna be alright by Francesco Bruni with Kim Rossi Stuart, Kidz, and over Christmas: The Legend of Christmas Witch and the animated film The bears’ famous invasion of Sicily, based on the book by Dino Buzzati. The TV series include Romulus by Matteo Rovere, Petra by Maria Sole Tognazzi and The Alligator by Daniele Vicari. The TV movies include Fabrizio De André with Luca Marinelli, Alberto Sordi by Luca Manfredi with Edoardo Pesce and Mia Martini – I am Mia.

The fifth edition of Italy on Screen Today – New York Film&TvSeries Fest was made possible thanks to the contribution of MiBACT – Ministero per i beni e le attività culturali e per il turismo – Direzione Generale Cinema e Audiovisivo, with the support of the Italian General Consulate in New York, the Italian Institute of Culture in New York, in collaboration with Rai Cinema, Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò NYU, Stony Brook University, Giornata mondiale del cinema italiano, Leone Film Group, Strategica Communication, with the support of Regione Lazio, APA – Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi and the Roma-Lazio Film Commission. This year, furthermore, it benefits from the partnership with our portal Italy for Movies.
