Description

The Film Distribution Fund is a support scheme introduced into the Italian legislation by Law no. 220 of 2016, Art. n. 10, n. 26 and n. 27, for the granting of contributions to support the distribution of Italian films with primary theatrical exploitation beyond Italian borders. The contribution is part of the Fondi Internazionalizzazione and is regulated by the 2024 Guidelines published with Directorial Decree of September 13th, 2024 n. 3091.

The beneficiaries are foreign distributors with registered offices throughout the world except Italy, San Marino and Vatican City.

Requirements

Eligible films for the call:

  1. films registered in the Public Register of Cinematographic and Audiovisual works;
  2. films provided with a definitive Italian nationality;
  3. films whose definitive copy has been deposited at the Italian National Film Archive;
  4. films produced within 24 months prior to the submission date of the application; 
  5. films whose exploitation rights sales agreement with the foreign distributor includes the assignment of theatrical rights with a Minimum Guarantee.

Payment schedule

The results of the assignments of the contributions will be published on the website www.cinecitta.com section named: Gestione Fondi Cinema – Fondi Internazionalizzazione and on the webpage of DGCA, within 30 working days following the Working Team meeting.
