International Exporters Fund – Funds for Internationalisation

Description

The Fondo Esportatori Internazionali is a support scheme introduced into the Italian legislation by Law n. 220/2016, Art. no. 10 and n. 27, for the granting of contributions to world sales companies with registered office in Italy in support of the foreign distribution of Italian films presented at main international markets. The contribution is part of the Fondi Internazionalizzazione and is regulated by Bando 2022, published on Cinecittà’s website on July 26, 2022.

The Fund is valid until available resources are exhausted and supports participation in the following festivals/markets: Sundance Film Festival, Berlinale/EFM, Festival Cannes/Marché, Venice Film Festival, Toronto, San Sebastian Film Festival, Mia Market Rome, AFM.

The contribution granted per company and market refers to the presentation of new films, for a maximum of 4 films and up to 30,000 euros.

Maximum contribution

The grants are awarded per company per market for maximum 4 films and will vary depending on the number of films requested by a single market:

  • € 10,000 for one film presented
  • € 18,000 for two films presented
  • € 25,000 for three films presented
  • € 30,000 for four films presented

Requirements

ELIGIBLE FILMS

  • Independent international sales companies with fiscal residency in Italy and possessing ATECO code 59.13 may apply for the grant
  • The grant may be requested for the expenses related to the promotion of a feature-length film, whether minority or majority Italian production, on its first screening in the international market:
    • Majority Italian production: films that have obtained Italian nationality prior to submitting the application are eligible;
    • Minority Italian productions:  film that have obtained temporary recognition of the co-production from the Ministry of Culture are eligible.
  • International sales companies participating at institutional events and activities organised by Ministry of Culture, Cinecittà S.p.A. and MAECI ICE or organized by ICE in agreement with the Directorate General Cinema Audio-visual of the Ministry of Culture, furthermore, have the right to a fixed sum, which will be defined on an individual basis, in agreement with the institution concerned.

ELIGIBLE MARKETS

    • Grants will be awarded for participation at: Film Festival, Berlinale/EFM, Festival Cannes/Marché, Venice Film Festival, Toronto, San Sebastian Film Festival, Mia Market Roma, AFM. 

Payment schedule

The application, complete with all the required forms, must be sent by PEC email to gfc@pec.cinecittaluce.it within 70 days from the end of the relevant Market/Event, citing the Fund in the header.

Applications may be submitted for markets occurring after publication of the fund, following the guidelines in the call.

Cinecittà S.p.A Gestione Fondi Cinema, if satisfied with examination of the paperwork, will proceed to disburse the grant following verification of the correct payment of employment tax.  Companies are obliged to complete payment of all accounted expenses within 30 days of receiving the grant, penalty the withdrawal of the grant.
