Description

The Direzione Generale Cinema e Audiovisivo - MiC (DGCA) and the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image (CNCI) of Tunis have made available a Fund for Italian-Tunisian Co-Development with a budget of €280,000 for works (drama, animation, documentary) that are longer than 52 minutes and intended for theatrical distribution in cinemas.

Requirements

Projects must include at least one producer legally headquartered in Tunisia and one legally headquartered in Italy.

Requirements for the companies in Italy:

  • Legal headquarters or operational unit in the European Economic Area;
  • The Italian production companies must be subject to taxation in Italy due to fiscal residency or to the presence of a stable organization based in Italy that is directly connected to the project;
  • Must not qualify as non-European businesses;
  • Must qualify as independent producers;
  • Must operate with the Ateco 59.11 code;
  • Must be in possession of the rights to the creative development (as contracts or acquisition option) to the screenplay, story, treatment and other artistic material inherent to the production of the film.

When the development projects assigned grants are produced, they must be co-produced by Italy and Tunisia and the Italian minority quota must not be less than 30%

Payment schedule

Once the approved results have been published and the beneficiary has signed a contract with Cinecittà S.p.A., a payment equal to 50% of the total contribution will be disbursed to the beneficiary.

The production company must send the final request for the funding amount by registered email (pec) to dg-ca.bandi-cosviluppo@pec.cultura.gov.it within 24 months of the date of publication of the approved results, which may be extended to 36 months where valid reasons justify, with the following attachments:

  • Final development budget
  • Definitive financial schedule for development
  • Final report on the development phases
  • Definitive screenplay
  • Co-production contract and financial plan for the film
  • Production and distribution strategy report
  • Inscription number from the Pubblico Registro Cinematografico e Audiovisivo
