Set in a fictional town in the South, on the border between Basilicata and Apulia, the film was actually shot in Sardinia, in the province of Oristano.
Costantino, a ‘defrocked’ priest, is forced by his mother to go and live outside the town, and takes shelter in the old lighthouse that his father was the keeper of: this is the lighthouse of Capo San Marco, in San Giovanni di Sinis, a few metres away from the thousand-year-old city of Tharros, the ruins of which are clearly visible during the funeral of Arturo’s father. Rosa Maria, Costantino’s sister, and Valbona, instead live in a hut on the beach of S’Archittu, in the area of Cuglieri.
Cabras was instead used for the parts of the film set in the town.

Costantino, a former priest, and a mediocre group of family members and friends of circumstance, bond as they turn the old family lighthouse into a hotel.
