Since the late 1970s, Naples Harbour has been one of the seven locations of Cantieri Palumbo, a leader in the building, repair and repurposing of all types of sea craft, with the others being established in Malta, Marseilles, Tenerife, Messina and Ancona from 2007 onwards.
The company headquarters can be found near the Carmine dock in a narrow grey building overlooking the road. The boatyards extend across three separate areas: the largest being Dock 40, with workshops, tower and self-propelled cranes and a wet dock; Dock 28 has two large storage shed and a second wet dock while Dock 37 has a warehouse and other workshops.
