The Regional Wine Cellar of the Marches in Offida, housed in a picturesque 14-century former monastery, is home to hundreds of local wines that can be tasted with the guidance of a sommelier and purchased. The cellar also hosts conferences and cultural events.
Restoration work carried out between 2002 and 2004 made significant changes to the structure of the building: a terrace was opened on the same level as the cloister and the cellar, overlooking the ancient walls.
The biggest changes were made in 2003 when the remains of several arched structures were found, almost fortuitously and unexpectedly, beneath what was probably the floor of the cellar of the Convent of St. Francis. These served as support structures for a series of caves carved from the sandstone, which were found in an excellent state of conservation and have now been restored to their former glory, after extensive excavation, cleaning and water evacuation work.
