Val Ferret is a wide, panoramic Alpine valley, crossed by the clear waters of a tributary of the Dora Baltea river, situated at the foot of Mont Blanc, north of the hollow of Courmayeur. To the left, it features several of the tallest and most majestic peaks in the Alps: Dente del Gigante, le Grandes Jorasses and Mont Dolent, while to the right are the softer, grassy slopes of Mont de La Saxe.
The valley is characterised by grassy pastures, shrubs, larch woods and bogs in the bottom of the valley, in an area where biodiversity is carefully conserved. There are at least 81 species of bird including the Golden Eagle, Bearded Vulture, Boreal Owl and Rock ptarmigan. The area is also home to numerous mammals including the chamois, ibex, deer, hare and Alpine marmot.
The area offers a vast choice of itineraries in the summer, ranging from walks in the woods to the high-altitude refuges, a golf course and mountain bike trails. In the winter, the area is filled with cross-country ski trails and covered with snow until late spring.
