A side street of Via del Corso, present-day Via dei Condotti corresponds to part of the ancient Via Trinitatis, which was opened in the first half of the 1500s under Pope Paul III, with work continuing under Julius III. The street got its name from its end point, Trinità dei Monti, and at the time also included via della Fontanella di Borghese and via del Clementino.
Today it is one of Rome’s luxury shopping streets where the most famous fashion houses can be found. The Antico Caffè Greco, established in 1760 and famous as a gathering place for intellectuals and thinkers in history and for the 300+ artworks on its walls, is located at number 86.
