The village of Bellano extends along the eastern bank of Lake Como, province of Lecco. The ancient residential centre is very small and features narrow alleyways which offer medieval houses, 17th century architecture and Baroque courtyards all in one glimpse.
The lakeside walkway (Viale Tommaso Grossi) provides a view of that entire area of the lake and various moorings for boats.
The Late Romanesque Church of Saints Nazaro and Celso, which dates to the 15th century, has great historical and architectural significance with a Gothic façade of white and black horizontal stripes.
The area is well-known for a deep natural gorge, the Orrido di Bellano, which has been carved out of the rock by the River Pioverna over the centuries. A route of ladders and raised walkways leads through the park, dotted with cavities and rock forms shaped by the water, to a small waterfall.
