At 1,151m, Monte Cornacchia is the tallest hill in Apulia. Its modest height - compared to those in other Italian regions - hides an extraordinary natural landscape of rolling meadows studded with stunning blooms, surrounded by woods, descendants of ancient forests, and mirrored in the largest freshwater lake in Apulia, Lake Pescara.
In recognition of the notable natural value of this enchanting place, the area is designated a Special Conservation Area of Monte Cornacchia – Bosco Faeto. Here the Italian Alpine Club of Apulia has created a trail dedicated to the Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901-1925).
The area can be reached by road from the town of Biccari by heading towards Roseto Valfortore and following the signs for Lake Pescara or the Adventure Park.
