The mining museum of Predoi (Bolzano) is located in the upper Aurina valley, near the border of the valley. In the 1990s, the old St. Ignatius tunnel was transformed into a museum and the underground railway was renovated to allow visitors access to the mines on board the two wagons.
Near the mine station, a larger cavity houses an old cable winch from the 1960s, used to raise the baskets loaded with minerals from the Arciduca Giovanni shaft, an excavation almost 90m deep (dug dopo 1830) that accessed the mineral deposits beneath the St. Ignatius tunnel. Today the shaft is partially flooded.
