Villabassa station

Description

Villabassa station is located south-east of the town centre. After the town was rescheduled under the Province of Bolzano, the structure was renovated in 2006. Like other stations and hotels in val Pusteria, the structure is a demonstration of 19^th-century industrialization and the associated tourist boom.
In 2013, the original granite construction, characterized by a richly decorated wooden gable, was declared "station of the year".
It quickly became too small to accommodate passengers, and was extended on both sides with flat-roofed buildings. The Villabassa tourist office is located on the upper floor of what was once a residence.
