About 5km from the little village of Stintino (SS) In the Gulf of Asinara (extreme north-west Sardinia) is La Pelosa, a tropical beach, among the most beautiful in Europe. It has fine, pure white sand, a transparent seabed, ankle-deep water for tens of metres, turquoise and blue colours of a sea that blends with the sky and a captivating landscape offered by the surrounding towers. One of these is the Aragonese tower (1578), the symbol of La Pelosa. It is accessible on foot, after crossing the little cove of La Pelosetta.
The panorama is completed by the Capo Falcone sea stacks, the Isola Piana and Asinara islands, which protect it from the force of the open sea. The surrounding Mediterranean scrub, particularly the junipers, reminds you that you are in Sardinia, despite the Caribbean appearance. The area is watched over by the ancient Saracen Torre del Falcone (Tower of the Falcon). Opposite it, the Isola Piana, once a place where livestock grazed, is so flat that it does not in any way obstruct the view of the majestic Asinara cliffs that stand tall behind it.
