The Forest of Monte Lerno is situated in the province of Sassari, within the territory of the municipality of Pattada. It stretches uncontaminated for a surface area of 2.853 hectares and is characterised by the presence of a rich vegetation of numerous holm oak woods.
From the present floristic composition of the vegetation of this area it should be noticed as a wood in re-evolution that preserves many elements of the tall brush (phillyrea, strawberry tree, etc.). The whole area also has a sizeable number of cork oaks with abundant brushwood dominated by rockrose, heather and strawberry tree. The best cork oaks inside the perimeter are found at Trataxis. The quality of the cork of this territory is particularly appreciated by producers, because of its high yield and quality.
