The hamlet of Sardagna features a stepped terrace, a platform suspended in the sky above the city of Trento. Known locally as the "busa degli orsi" for the animals that it welcomed here until the 1980s, it is connected to the city centre by cable car. The terrace was abandoned for years until 2017 when it was reclaimed with a design by the municipal architect Franco Voltolini.
The steel stepped platform, which can seat 80, is located at the top of the rock. The deepest part of the “busa” includes a path that leads to a cage hanging 150-200m over the drop which represents a bear’s den.
Built in corten steel which oxidises over time to the colour of rust, the structure is used for concerts, films and shows.
