The Romanesque Cathedral of St. John and Paul in Ferentino (province of Frosinone) was built above an ancient pagan temple, rebuilt in 1108 and transformed in the 17th century.
The arcaded façade is very simple, three portals with architraves that echo the three naves inside the building. The interior has a priceless Cosmatesque floor, a presbytery dating to 1116 and a 14th century ciborium by Drudo da Trevio that represents a little temple with four columns supporting an entablature decorated with a depiction of the Tempietto della Concordia in Rome. In addition, the Cathedral houses: a Cosmatesque bishop’s throne flanked by two lions; a Cosmatesque twisted candelabrum for the Easter Candle; a Renaissance oleario attributed to Vassalletto; and a marble sphinx and lion.
