The Church of St. Thomas in Roccasecca (province of Frosinone) appears to be the first religious centre built in this saint’s name. Construction took place between 1323 and 1325 above the ruins of an ancient Romanesque church. Damaged during WWII, the church was restored in the 1970s.
Positioned between the castle and medieval borgo of Roccasecca, the church was built in local stone to a rectangular layout (20x10m) whose interior is divided by a large pointed arch. A niche houses a 15th century fresco of The Madonna of the Rosary with Child and a wooden bust of St. Thomas (1633). Many other frescoes were lost during WWII. The church also houses medieval frescoes from the Church of St. Peter a Campea which was destroyed.
The bell tower adjacent to the church has a lunette with a fresco of St. Thomas.
