Basilicata (also known as Lucania) is a region in Southern Italy with a wide range of natural, environmental and landscape locations, each unique in their own genre. Thanks to these natural stage settings, the region meets a wide variety of stylistic needs for audio-visual stories. The ancient city of Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and European Capital of Culture 2019.
The Foundation Lucana Film Commission was born in 2012 with the purpose of promoting and supporting the production of Italian and foreign cinema, television, audiovisual and advertising works in Basilicata. Its mission is promoting and enhancing artistic and natural heritage, historical identity, the tradition of the Lucanian community, professional and technical skills with the aim of encouraging filmmakers to come in Basilicata.
