The Park of Mediterranean Biodiversity occupies 60 hectares in the heart of Catanzaro. It comprises a large variety of flora and fauna and is divided into two separate areas: a large public park with amenities and the Mulini valley wood.
There are many areas suitable for sport, including fitness stations, playing fields, jogging paths, mountain bike trails and a riding school in the Mulini valley. In addition, the park has rest and picnic sites, bars, restaurants and children’s play areas.
A stone amphitheatre hosts summer performances of music and theatre and a prestigious open-air exhibition of contemporary art, including work by artists such as Dennis Oppenheim, Tony Cragg, Jan Fabre.
The wild animal recovery centre (CRAS-Centro Recupero Animali Selvatici) and the military museum of the Brigata Catanzaro (MUSMI (Museo Storico Militare Brigata Catanzaro) are also in the park.
