The port of Vibo Valentia is located in the southern part of the gulf of Santa Eufemia, in the bay of Santa Venera, and is used by the military, for commercial activities (e.g., petroleum tankers, fishing trade) and for tourism. Ferries to the Aeolian islands leave from here.
The harbour structure is protected to the east and west by the two docks of Generale Malta and Molo Cortese. Inside the harbour complex are the docks: Fiume, Tripoli, Bengasi, Papandrea, Buccarelli. Private moorings offer 500 berths for leisure sailors. Moorings in the molo rosso provide space for transiting vessels.
The port of Vibo Valentia has one of the largest Coast Guard offices in Italy with jurisdiction from Nicotera to Maratea.
