The original structure of the Punta Penna Lighthouse dates back to 1906. It was destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt straight after. After the Lighthouse of Genoa, it is the second tallest lighthouse in Italy at 70m, and sits on a promontory looking out over the port of Vasto (CH). The 15th-century Santa Maria di Pennaluce church and the 16th-century sighting tower are located in the immediate vicinity of the lighthouse.
