The castle of Sarriod de la Tour is located in Saint-Pierre in a flat area on a rocky bank of the river Dora Baltea. The manor was property of the Sarroid de La Tour family until the 1900s.
The oldest part of the castle, which dates to the 11th-12th century and comprises a dungeon and a square tower, was encircled by a curtain wall in the regional tradition of the time. The structure was later extended with additions and modifications which lead to the fascinating irregular appearance it has today. Some of these works included the addition of a spiral staircase, a vire, in the tower and a chapel which was later frescoed.
Its origins unknown, the lodge is surrounded by fruit orchards, mostly apple, which add to the fairy-tale atmosphere of the place.
On the first floor is the sala delle teste, whose name derives from the decorations carved into the wooden ceiling which depict dragons, monsters and other unusual characters from legendary tales.
